About:
I’m an Associate Professor in the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Department and the Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation at Penn State University. Before joining Penn State in 2012, I held the following research positions:
- 2011 – 2012: Visiting Scientist, Harvard University, Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology.
- 2010 – 2012: Research Scientist, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
- 2007–2010: Postdoctoral Research Associate, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Research group of Prof. David Gifford, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
- 2005–2007: Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Pittsburgh, Research group of Dr. Takis Benos, Department of Computational & Systems Biology.
My graduate studies in computational biology were mentored by Terry Smith and Aaron Golden at the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science in Galway, Ireland (2002-2006). During this time, I also had the opportunity to visit Dan Rokhsar’s lab at UC Berkeley for 5 months (2003) and Takis Benos’ lab in Pittsburgh for 3 months (2004). I also have an undergraduate degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
